We offer several styles of buttons not available anywhere else. Today’s ubiquitous plastic button did not yet exist, and so utility and everyday buttons for common folk were hand made of natural materials such as bone and leather. The most available low status utility button was cut out of leather scraps and these were used on at least one regiment’s uniform. We also offer high status buttons covered with light tan thread, or intricately worked out of perle cotton thread to make what is now called a Dorset button. Our thread and Dorset buttons are entirely handmade.
